SUMMARY:Earth Month: Enjoy Butterflies at Pulau Ubin!
DESCRIPTION:Open to the Public\nButterfly Hill in Pulau Ubin lives up to its name!  On good weather days\, the hill is alive with many fluttering wings of our lovely native butterflies.  The ‘Tiger’ butterflies are usually represented by the Blue Glassy Tiger\, Dark Glassy Tiger and Plain Tiger. On one rare occasion even the Yellow Glassy Tiger\, probably from Malaysia\, made a dash over! \nHowever\, another rare butterfly more frequently encountered on the hill today is the Dwarf Crow presumed extinct but was re-discovered in 2002.  Other captivating butterflies include the Common Rose\, classified as ‘near threatened’ in Singapore’s updated Red Data book (online version).  It was crowned Singapore’s National Butterfly by the public in a popular online vote ran by NSS’ Butterfly & Insect Group in 2015. \nTime permitting\, we may also explore the Sensory Trail area. \nTime: 8.30am – 12pm \nMeeting Time: 8am \nTrip Leaders: Amy Tsang & Simon Chan\, members of NSS Butterfly & Insect Group \nCost\nThe activity is free-of-charge but the 2-way ferry ride will cost $8 in total per person ($4 per direction per person) \nRegistration\nTo attend the walk\, please register at:\nhttps://tinyurl.com/NSSBIGwalk2 \nNote:\n– Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis.\n– Registration will close once the maximum number of participants is reached\, or on closing date.\n– Non-members may be accepted if there are excess places by the closing date.\n– Participating non-members may sign up for NSS membership during or after the walk.\n– Only confirmed participants will be contacted by email\, after the closing date\, with details on the meeting time and place. \nClosing Date\n11 May ’25\, Sunday \nMax.
