Colourful mating moths to ID

Postby amytsang » Sat Jul 28, 2012 3:35 pm

Hi, I have not been able to ID a pair of colorful moths which were mating. Their wing colors are very strong and striking especially when seen against the dark forest background. Any one knows the family name? Thanks!

Thanks, Lemon. These moths are very distinctive yet I could not see them being highlighted in the Moth books which I have! Will surf the net soon to see photos of this moth.

Hi Lemon,
I surfed the net and came across an article written by Leong Tzi Ming of NUS regarding the study of this particular moth. See reference below in case you haven't come across it too. Interesting read with very good pictures of this moth's caterpillar and pupa as well as the male and female Dysphania glaucesns.
