Postby green baron » Fri Nov 20, 2009 9:40 pm

A Tillandsia Cornucopia – A Talk by Paul T. Isley III

Date: 22 Nov 09, Sunday
Time: 3 pm to 5 pm
Venue: Fruit Room, HortPark
Speaker: Mr Paul T. Isley III from Rainforest Flora
Language: English

Synopsis:

Tillandsias are arguably the newest plants to appear on Earth and they are endemic only to the Western hemisphere. Many are true epiphytes and can grow on anything, or nothing, if give sufficient light and water. This ability, combined with the fact that of all the plants in the world, they vary in shape, color and size more than any others and the fact that most of them are so easy to care for, makes them the ideal plant for apartment dwellers without a lot of space or time to devote to growing them. Participants of this talk will also be treated to photos of various Tillandsia species, hybrids, and cultivars from the nurseries in Torrance and Bonsall. Isley will explain the interesting aspects of each one.
