Our short trip from 4th to 14th April took us from Gilimale Forest to Sinharajah Forest in the south, and then north to Knuckles mountain range, then to Wasgamuwa Safari Park and Sigiriya before flying home.
The whole of Sri Lanka may be described as one large nature reserve as the culture here encourages the preservation of nature, and ecotourism is a major source of revenue.

Enroute to Gilimale Forest, this tree laden with pink blossoms was a harbinger of the beautiful things to come.

The mountain range of Knuckles offers the best visual delights of the trip. Here are some scenes taken from and around, our cottages:

We stayed in cottages built on different levels of the hill slope, and surrounded by hills, greenery and bird songs. Every morning it is a long trudge down to the dining hall. Here is K C and Willi's cottage.

Every morning we had to fight for breakfast time with the birds outside the dining hall. There were so many of them.

Enroute to Sigiriya Sanctuary:

Water buffaloes are the living tractors in the rice fields, and are still S Lankan's most useful animals.

Finally, Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
