Experimenting with HDR

Postby richardlbong » Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:34 pm

After hearing about HDR, decided to experiment with one of my Charaxes solon echo (Black Rajah) photo. Using the same shot that is shot in Raw, decided to process with 3 exposure settings, one under by 2 stop, one normal and one over by 2 stop. Using the PSCS4, I merge them using the PS automation HDR merge. Than convert this merge file to 8 bit and adjust the exposure and gamma to get what I think is correct. Final adjustment in level and curve and smart sharpening. Here is the result.

I tried but the outcome was terrible. Need more practice.

Can you post of a photo of the non-HDR shot for comparison ?

Here's a shot converted from raw to jpeg using the normal PSCS4 conversion with standard level, curve and sharpening.

To get the preferred result, change the mode from 32 bit to 8 bit, then used the various pull down options to tune the photo.
