Giant Redeye ???

Postby kctsang » Mon Dec 20, 2010 10:46 pm

This hesperiidae was photographed by Amy in Kranji / Neo Tiew vicinity.
She wonders if it could possibly be the Giant Redeye. Will appreciate a confirmation on what it is.
Thanks.

Should be the female of Unkana ambasa batara (Hoary Palmer). Good catch there

Thanks, Fujis2. Glad we got this ID confirmed. It was resting for quite a while on a Simpon Ayer leaf until my friend thought it was not alive and decided to move in closer to check it out. Then it buzzed off as fast as a bee! Amy
