+ 1 for Singapore! - Telicota linna

Ok, it's not really exciting, just a plain looking skipper :giggle:

Refer to the earlier thread - which Telicota?, I've gotten confirmation from Malaysia butterfly expert Dr. Laurence G. Kirton, it's a Telicota linna !

He also kind enough to illustrated the keys used in the ID according to BMP by comparing the 2 species (T. linna & T. besta), and that really help me to understand what is "based of space 2 blacken". I re-present the illustration here so all of us can learn.

This species is not in the BMP (Singapore) list, and described as uncommon even in Malaysia. So it's a new find in Singapore :yeh: :yeh: :yeh:

Well done SC. Have seen and taken shots of this Telicota at Dairy Farm, thought it is the T besta so had only a couple of record shots.

Thanks ButtLover & Richard ;)

The skipper may be more common than we thought just that nobody care to ID it.

After successfully bred & ID 3 Telicota (besta, colon & linna), I hope I'll be lucky enough to find T. augias, which is listed in BMP.

Hi SC,
Great !
You'd think there might be more than 4 Telicota's in Singapore ? Common in most forest areas/edge ? (short of asking you where you found T. linna)
I have several pixs didnt bother to id.

Thanks PT ;)

Found it near forest edge on bamboo plant. Do post the pix if showing the upper side clearly, we can try to ID.

Btw, in case you are looking at the BOT (Butterflies of Thailand), do take note the T. linna on plate 382, H277 was wrongly labelled, based on the correction notes I received, it's a T. besta.

One of the Potanthus I think, but I can't see the photo clearly, any clearer or higher resolution photo?
