Fruit Tree at Fraser's Hill

Saw this fruit tree outside Jelai Bungalow. looks like persimmon but Mr yap said the fruits need to be boiled in some (alkaline ? can't remember the term he used) solution before it can be eaten ! :pdr:

The next day I saw another tree outside Brinchang.

Hi Gan,

Looks like a persimmon; probably is a variety.
Will it ripen bright orange? or plucked semi-ripe?
Fruit may need to be processed with lime water?
