Hi plain tiger and green baron,

Could it be the abiu, Pouteria Caimito?

Sorry for poor pix guys, but the sun was directly overhead difficulty focussing. Looks like a Pouteria alright, few such trees in the middle of Mayfair Park off Rifles Range Rd.

Is this the same fruit tree we see along Sungei Tngah and Jalan Lekar, fruit about the size of a mango ?

Actually you both reminded me of my older pictures of the fruit tree taken at Sg Tengah, turns out I checked it looks like Eggfruit (P. campechiana) taken in 2008, funny it was labelled 'Breadfruit' (ignore all the wrong labelling).
Wombat : Looks too big a fruit to be Pouteria caimito as I've grown the Star Apple myself.
See picture the bigger setting at RRR, go check it out if free...good place to do a butterfly walk as well :D
Thk you all

Hi Plain Tiger,
Star Apple is Chrysophyllum cainito.
Abiu or Eggfruit - not easy to tell them apart!
Ripe Eggfruit tastes like sweet hardboiled eggyolk.
Cheers!

Have never seen an abiu before. My impression: abiu---smooth skin, brighter, eggfruit---a bit wrinkled, duller.

Thanks Angie for clarifying Star apple from Abui....definitely not Star Apple tree with distinct brown leaf underside.
Now that leads me back to square one..Abiu or Eggfruit ?? :pdr:
