A teneral Blue Dasher

Blue Dasher newly emerged from its larval case. Unlike butterflies, dragonflies do not have a pupal stage. They transform from larvae to adults (incomplete metamorphosis). The new dragonfly at this point is called a 'teneral', with colours not fully developed.
