We're Hiring! Project Manager - Bird Race Coordinator


The Nature Society (Singapore) is the country’s leading conservation non-government organisation.  Established in 1940, it has helped build a strong base of professional scientists, naturalists and casual nature lovers in Singapore and the surrounding region, and was instrumental in the establishment of protected areas such as the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

Today, the Society continues to lead and organise outreach activities to promote nature awareness and biodiversity conservation in Singapore.  One of the Society’s flagship events is the Singapore Bird Race, which has been held every year for over three decades.  The Society is now seeking for a project coordinator to oversee the organisation of the 2022 Singapore Bird Race, and to work closely with diverse stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    To organise the 2022 Singapore Bird Race (SBR)
o    Work with the Singapore Bird Race Organising Committee, the appointed social media/digital marketing agency for the SBR and the Nature Society (Singapore)’s Secretariat to coordinate and manage engagements, registrations and meetings.
o    Be the focal point of liaison activities including handling all SBR related queries from the public.
o    Work with the social media/digital marketing agency to implement the communications plan.
o    Coordinate the procurement of event-related supplies and gifts.
o    Coordinate and organise the pre-event, race day and closing events including logistics and transportation.
•    Provide support to the NSS Secretariat for meetings, events and activities, and ad hoc tasks where needed.

Skills and Qualifications
•    Coordination and events management skills/experience
•    Team-player, ability to reach out to and engage diverse stakeholders
•    Familiar with social media communications to facilitate working with the digital agency
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•    Data management skills
•    Familiarity with wildlife conservation in Singapore
•    Ability to work independently

Terms of Employment
•    Contract (up to 3 months, mid-Aug to mid Nov 2022)

Education and Experience Requirements
•    At least a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Biology or a related field
•    Experience in project/events organisation and management
•    Good spoken and written English
•    Familiarity with MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Google suite

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
