Education

About Education

The Education Committee has its origins organising nature appreciation activities for children. Its longest-running and most popular activity is the ongoing “Fun with Nature” series, comprising walks to various nature areas in Singapore for children 4 to 12 years old and their accompanying parents, older siblings and caregivers. Posts about past NSS Kids’ Fun with Nature activities can be found here:

Over the years, the Education Committee has expanded its role beyond instilling a love for nature early in our young children. Its expanded functions include:

  1. Collaborating with other NSS committees and Special Interest Groups to increase the pool of skilled/experienced NSS members and volunteers to lead NSS projects and initiatives via
    a. identifying training needs of NSS members and volunteers
    b. developing capacity building activities and programmes for NSS members and volunteers
  2. Developing projects and programmes to engage youth (12 to 35 years)
  3. Being the contact point of NSS for education-related collaborations with external parties
