Events Management Intern

Internship period: Minimally 5 months

The Event Management Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of NSS events, including community outreach, corporate CSR activities, volunteer programmes, fundraising initiatives, and nature education events. The intern will gain hands-on experience in event logistics, stakeholder engagement, communications, and sustainability-focused event design.

Event Planning & Coordination:
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and logistics of NSS events, including nature walks, conservation talks, volunteer CSR activities, and biodiversity festivals.
  • Support venue bookings, permit applications, and coordination with vendors, speakers, and external partners.
  • Help prepare event run sheets, operational checklists, timelines, and budget tracking documents.
Communications & Promotion:
  • Draft publicity materials, social media content, and electronic direct mailers (eDMs) to promote upcoming events and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Communications team to ensure consistent branding, messaging, and campaign execution.
  • Manage event registrations and maintain clear communication with participants before and after events.
On-site Event Support:
  • Assist with event set-up, registration processes, and coordination of volunteers, speakers, and participants.
  • Ensure smooth event operations by monitoring schedules and resolving on-site logistical issues.
  • Collect photographs, attendance records, and participant feedback for documentation and evaluation.
Post-event Reporting & Documentation:
  • Support the preparation of post-event reports, photograph libraries, and impact summaries.
  • Track attendance data, participant feedback, and environmental sustainability metrics such as waste reduction and carbon offset efforts.
  • Assist in organizing event documentation and maintaining records for future planning and reporting.
Partnership & Stakeholder Support:
  • Support coordination with corporate partners and stakeholders for CSR collaborations and conservation initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing partnership proposals, thank-you letters, and donor or partner updates.
  • Help maintain communication materials and relationship records to support ongoing engagement and future collaborations.
Mandatory
  • Undergraduate or diploma student in Environmental Studies, Communications, Event Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Interest in environmental conservation and sustainability.
  • Able to work some weekends for events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace; familiarity with Canva or social media scheduling tools is a plus.

Communications Intern

Internship period: Minimally 5 months

The communications intern position is expected to support the branding, storytelling and outreach for NSS’s conservation initiatives. The intern will have the opportunity to craft compelling stories across articles, social media, and educational materials, cover impactful events, and contribute to research and reports for various communication assets. They will also gain hands-on experience in community engagement while supporting creative and editorial work that inspires action for nature.

Content Creation:
  • Write articles, blog posts, and press releases highlighting the organization’s initiatives, impact stories, and conservation efforts.
  • Draft engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and other digital channels to promote campaigns, events, and environmental awareness.
  • Assist in developing educational and promotional materials such as newsletters, brochures, reports, and other communication assets.
Research & Reporting:
  • Conduct research on environmental topics to support content development and stay informed about current conservation trends.
  • Support the preparation of media kits, impact reports, case studies, and other organizational publications.
  • Provide event coverage for Nature Society Singapore through written summaries, photography coordination, and content documentation.
Social Media Support:
  • Assist in managing, scheduling, and publishing social media content across multiple platforms.
  • Monitor audience engagement, track performance analytics, and recommend improvements to enhance social media strategies.
  • Support the creation of timely and engaging digital content aligned with organizational campaigns and events.
Community Engagement:
  • Help craft communication materials that engage donors, volunteers, members, and the wider community.
  • Assist in developing awareness campaigns that encourage participation in conservation initiatives and community programs.
  • Support the preparation and execution of Nature Society Singapore events, including on-ground coordination, volunteer support, and participant engagement activities.
Administrative Support:
  • Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support for the Communications team as required.
  • Assist with organizing files, maintaining content calendars, coordinating media outreach, and preparing donor and stakeholder communications.
  • Support the management of communication assets and documentation to ensure efficient team operations.
Mandatory
  • Interest in local biodiversity as well as a passion for environmental issues and nature conservation.
  • Effective team player as well as an independent and resourceful self-starter.
  • Excellent communication, design, and writing skills.
Preferred
  • Background in Communications, Environmental Science/Studies, Life Science, or related disciplines.
  • Able to identify common species of birds and butterflies in Singapore.
  • Design, journalism, and/or publicity experience.
  • Event management and outreach experience.

Outreach Intern

Internship period: Minimally 5 months

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Outreach Intern to join our team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in outreach strategies and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong communication skills and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.

Outreach Planning & Coordination:
  • Assist in developing and implementing outreach strategies to strengthen community engagement and public participation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure outreach initiatives align with organizational goals and conservation objectives.
  • Support the planning and execution of outreach programs, exhibitions, and community activities, including occasional weekend events.
  • Represent the organization at outreach events and engage with members of the public, partners, and stakeholders.
Content Development & Communications:
  • Develop and distribute engaging outreach, educational, and publicity materials across various communication channels.
  • Assist in writing articles, stories, and updates for the organization’s website, newsletters, and magazine publications.
  • Support the creation of communication content that promotes outreach campaigns, events, and conservation initiatives.
Research & Administration:
  • Conduct research on target audiences, community needs, and engagement opportunities to support outreach planning and strategy development.
  • Maintain outreach databases, track program activities, and monitor participation and engagement outcomes.
  • Provide administrative support for outreach programs, events, and partnerships, including documentation, scheduling, and record management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
